truths.fyi
This purpose of this website is to reveal spiritual truths that many Christians are not aware of. John 8:31-32 Then said Jesus to those Jews which believed on him, If you continue in my word, then are you my disciples indeed; and you shall know the truth, and the truth shall make you free.
Truth is one of the most fundamental attributes of God. Deuteronomy 32:4 He is the Rock, his work is perfect: for all his ways are judgment: a God of truth and without iniquity, just and right is he. Psalm 33:4 For the word of the LORD is right; and all his works are done in truth. John 14:6 Jesus said unto him, I am the way, the truth, and the life… In contrast, Satan is the father of lies, and those who do not love truth are Satan’s children (John 8:43-47) and will end up in the lake of fire (Revelation 22:15).
Truth is not a popular topic in an age of relativism. Sadly, truth is also not popular amongst many Christians. Without truth however, moral concepts such as love are meaningless, as there is no accurate basis to measure right or wrong.
Proverbs 21:3 To do justice and judgment is more acceptable to the LORD than sacrifice.
Tithing
Perhaps the most prominent argument for modern day tithing is that tithing was commanded by God before the Mosaic law, and being outside the Mosaic law, still remains even though the Mosaic law was abolished.
Elder Plurality
The New Testament (“NT”) teaches that there are two offices in the church – elders and deacons. The NT refers to “bishops” and “overseers” as synonyms for elders. See for example Titus 1:5 & 7 and Acts 20:17 & 28.
Spiritual Abuse
There are characteristics of spiritual abuse that Christians can be aware of, to help them identify abuse and an environment where abuse is likely to take place.
Clergy vs Laity
The clergy system has been widespread in “Christianity” from about the third century onwards. The essence of this system is that there are two classes of Christians – the clergy and the laity.
Spiritual Authority
There is not a great emphasis in the NT on human spiritual authority in a local church, in proportion to the number of other topics discussed. Authority tends to be overemphasised in churches that are controlling in nature.
GSBC - A Sad Story
This article is primarily addressed to Christians who attend Independent Baptist (“IB”) churches. Christians of other denominations will also benefit by learning what not to do.
